What is Therapy Book Club?
Therapy Book Club is a book club and a support group in one. Meeting monthly in Bury St Edmunds to discuss the fictional book that we have read over the last few weeks. With a qualified counsellor facilitating, we can take a deeper look at how you have related to characters and story lines and therapeutically explore memories, thoughts and feelings that the book of the month has exposed for members.
The aim of this book club is to bring together like minded people to support each other and develop a deeper understanding of themselves through the stories we read.
January
In January we will be reading and talking about Open Up by Thomas Morris!
Open Up is a book made up of 5 short stories, examining the need to belong and self discovery. This will be an interesting read, leading to interesting conversation so don't miss out, get yourself the book and book your place at January's book club.
From the publisher:
"Strikingly original and wincingly humane, Open Up seeks to find grace, hope and benevolence in the churning tumult of self-discovery."

I can't wait to read this and talk about it with you all!

What might you get out of joining Therapy Book Club?Â
Through reading and discussing interesting fiction you might find that you connect some of your own experiences. Â
In the text or in discussion with other members you might find a new perspective or reframing of a situation in your own life or of your surroundings in general. Â
Sometimes an author can say what you’re thinking better than you are able to articulate. This might help you to talk about things that are going on for you when you haven’t been able to find the words.Â
You might make new friends! With shared interests in reading, through supporting each other you might find that you create bonds with other group members.Â
